Pregnant Celebrities, Celebrating Life or Marketing?

We know celebrities like Madonna and Angelina Jolie have made headlines with their adoptions from 3rd world countries.

There's something still quite noble, however perverted to their marketing ends, in that. After all they are rescuing innocent little lives from primitive conditions, suffering, and probably a short, harsh life.

But what exactly is this obsession with pregnant nude shots? Oh, the oh so famous photographer, the famous Annie Leibovitz photo of Demi Moore started it all. Annie Leibovitz is a totally typical pervert who had her children in a test tube while she was romancing Susan Sontag. Lovely. These are the sort of people who are getting grants from the NEA and the NEH and are leading cultural lights! Ha. What a disgusting world they live in, and that they want to impose on you. Misery loves company.



For the sexual radical Left, it is ALL about violating taboos. Breaking boundaries. Privacy? Propriety? No, the Left equates "privacy" with a "right" to abortion. What a screwed up and totally hypocritical world the Left lives in.

And then we come to poor Britney Spears. I say poor, because I doubt very much that she has any idea what she is doing. Pimping her baby from the outset, well, that's just not likely to ever, ever, be good in the long run for the baby. What a surprise that the marriage ended and the baby is now in the middle of a tug of war. Another young Celeb with incredibly poor judgment.



Pregnant bellies bordering on pornography?

Our highest glory as human beings is that we are invited to participate in God's creation of the world, with our minds and hearts and bodies.

There is nothing to be ashamed about our bodies--God knows every hair on our head. He certainly loves the rest of our mortal frames!

The deal is that sex is PRIMARILY for bringing new life into the world. Yeah, it has secondary "purposes" also, what might be called its "unitive" aspect. The expression of love between husband and wife, with the idea that they are participating in God's plan for the universe. Duh. If couples are not open, as a general rule, to the procreative aspect of love-making, then they risk to develop the HABIT of considering sex as simply a mutual exchange of, well, services

A pregnant woman is beautiful, because she is a sign of life... with all of its "pregnant" ups and downs. Pure, awesome potential, with all of the risks and heartaches ahead, there are also the joys and wonders.

Edmund Burke once wrote that the essence of the sublime and beautiful was terror. What is more terrifying than the thought of a new born baby, a parent's responsibility, the life they will lead?

We do have to get back to a culture that celebrates LIFE and not self-indulgence, not escapism, not selfishness.

How does that happen? One family at a time. And then most importantly, in our public life we must vote with our pocket books. The horrible garbage on TV is being driven by perv producers and writers, but if people don't watch it, don't subscribe to cable, they will change or go out of business.

I tend to think that the Demi Moore and Britney Spears pictures are not celebrating life, as much as they are celebrating Demi and Britney.

What next? If you had any doubt, we are on a slippery slope indeed!
