Britney Spear's Confusion and Our Cultural Apathy

What a shocker:

KFed alleges that Britney is unfit as a mother... why? He claims she is a homosexual (so-called 'lesbian'), and that she throws sex orgies for her friends. While in other courts, homosexuals are routinely awarded custody and adoptions more and more around the country. Gosh, Supreme Court Justices Sandra Day O'Connor (thankfully EX) and Kennedy routinely affirm the right of every person to define the meaning of the universe with their genitals. Where's the beef?



Yawn! Ho-hum.

Oh no doubt many bloggers and celebrity magazines will echo the pseudo-scandal and self-serving public flagellation of Britney, everyone wins I suppose. Except our culture, our public values and morals, and our children. You know, those kritters that liberals care so much about that they'd rather kill them than let them be born to unfit mothers.

The Britney sexcapades are not a new story, not at all! Going back years, at least to the rumors of an affair with Paris Hilton. Talk about a two-fer! Two-fer media hype and public titillation!!!

Her assistant, Shannon Funk (a real name?), denies the affair. Unfortunately this episode seems to follow an all too familiar pattern of celebrity scandal these days in order to drive media attention... while leaving morals and common decency to suffer. Like it or not, celebrities are role models, that's how they became celebrities is that they have something or found something that people WANT to imitate or worship from afar.

No doubt, the bizarre adulation of celebrities who are famous only for their looks or slim singing or acting ability is a natural human response--it's too ubiquitous to be some unusual bi-product of modern industrial society. BUT it may well be a DISTORTION of a natural human impulse to revere power and ABILITY. Only now, that instinct has been left to feed off of people with no actual HUMAN power or ability, only some superficial and fleeting projection of such imaginary qualities. PBS actually had an interesting documentary on such a theory, pretty funny with John Clease... they stole my idea!
