Victoire! Victory! Vittoria!
Update: French "yutes" respond to Sarkozy election on cue... 730 vehicles torched, 600 arrested, and counting! More video/news from riots in Paris...update from Toasted Bread...
- First anti-Sarko rioters headed to jail. Student groups call for calm...and vigilance. (They don't want to look anti-democratic!)

France speaks. Dems listen. Can you say, so long Hillary?
Read how the LEFT-leaning World Media spins the news...
Actually: the French have spoken. When democracy is invoked in France, the French are actually conservative. No to the elites. Yes to the people. No to America baiting. No to hyping class envy, no to race baiting.
(Note that at least the French media use traditional, communist RED to denote Leftist voters, and BLUE, the color of hope, for Conservatives--not like the US air-head media that invented the Red and Blue state scheme as another level of public deception.)
Yes to economic liberty, yes to personal responsibility, yes to equal opportunity, yes to real equality before the law, yes to innovation and growth and a future of decency and traditional values.
French conservatives have traditionally fought for narrow French national interests. Even while maintaining a veneer of Catholicism and traditionalism, they were at heart modernists and technocrats...i.e. apart from the royalists and the xenophobes. What a mix.
Sarkozy represents an intelligent conservatism, at least we can still hope, of Burke, Tocqueville, and Aron! Time will tell...
We salute the French! We welcome, along with Merkel in Germany, the awakening of the people in Western Europe to their sense of true humanity and to their duties in this tidal moment of history.
Our Bloggregator colleague, Toasted Bread, has the views of the French election (and its aftermath) from Spain... a great round-up from a novel perspective!
