France Leftists: Some More Whine?

Update after the debate tonight:
Plus ca change! Sarkozy still calm and rational, Royal still a dogmatic witch.

You don't need to understand French to get a lot out of looking at the styles of the two candidates at a debate from a decade ago. Royal starts out smug, and insults one of her interlocutors, calling him a puppet and gives a line about how she represents the forces of progress, blah, blah, blah! Sarkozy is calm, rational, makes some claims about how things have gone and what needs to be done, and suggests that it is an insult to intelligence to argue that the Left has not any responsibility for the way things had gone in France.

Royal blows her stack, telling Sarkozy basically to shut up, to stop insulting her and the TV audience, to stop with his hate speech, that she's part of the new generation and isn't going to take his crap anymore...
