Last Post on "24" ... Promise!
"Heroes" next week however, is another story...O.K., I wasn't disappointed. Monday night's sensational "24" bonanza Part II Premiere was as bad as I expected. A-bomb.
LOOK, I like the concept of the show, and I like the fact that they are generally not afraid to deal with the REAL THREAT that radical Islam poses to our lives and way of life... but that doesn't mean we have to lower our standards for writing, casting, and editing! (Mind you the acting is pretty good, except for the disastrous casting choices--discussed infra and in our last post...)
#1 The previews from Sunday night showed the nuclear bomb blast going off... so there wasn't much suspense about that... duh, wasn't that supposed to be like a big shocking finale or something?
#2 We can see where the dopey white kid got his genes. I mean how irrational and impulsive is the father? He has a wounded terrorist holding a gun on his family, who seems to be so isolated and desparate that he has to ask the DAD to carry out a mission... clever sub-plot? Not so much as just plain dumb. That the Dad doesn't immediately call the fuzz is absurd. So the wife is the one with the brains? Girl power!
#3 The high school antics at CTU just get worser and worser.

#4 After the big bomb, President Palmer the Younger (how did this guy get elected? is this an Obama desensitizing op, like that Lady President show was explicity aimed at preparing America for Hillary???) sez: "Now we're going to devote all of our resources to this!" Oh, brother! (pun intended)
The detonation of the bomb makes NO IMPACT visually or emotionally on screen at all. All of the White House folks hang their mouths open, and that's supposed to move us?
I really liked the first seasons of "24" and I realize how hard it is to keep such a series tightly knit and succesful, let alone keep the writing up to the same standards. That's all understandably suffered. What really bugs me though: Why did FOX lower the mental age of its target audience to 13 year olds?
