Liberals are going around masquarading as moderates (as usual), the tin foil hat and orange ski cap crowd can't salivate fast enough, barely able to contain their orgasming over the victory they anticipate, with their wimpy (they think "killer") strategies to depress Republican turnout: Painting ad nauseam Republicans as liars and especially as homo-NAZI liars, on the one hand, and pretending that Democrats won't be as bad as you think on the other! Ha. Hilarious. Their intentions are clear, and President Bush senior has it exactly right:
..."if we have some of these wild Democrats in charge of these (congressional) committees, it will be a ghastly thing for our country."
Let's hope Barron's is right and that their glee is premature! The President's confidence, which the Libs are taking as a sign of their plans to steal the election somehow!, reflects his conviction that he'd doing the right thing in Iraq. I've explained elsewhere why I think the President has done the things that infuriate us Conservatives... but now it's important to get out the vote!
In case you wondered why this election matters: The current DNC coalition is made up of lying Nietzschean, socialist, perverts and radical activists of every stripe and hue. This DNC must NEVER gain control of government, or our culture and civilization is DOOMED.

The enemy will be tremendously emboldened, Iraq and Afghanistan may well fall into chaos.
Liberals (socialists and hedonist radicals) have only one hope: keep repeating scandal, scandal, scandal. It's Machiavellianism at its pathetic lamest, and would be laughable if it weren't so dangerous.
This election can't be about hoping for the best from the Democrats (none of their leaders have the values or guts...look at Lieberman's case)--it has to be about winning!

Iraq and Afganistan already are in chaos. Your post illustrates a probable Republican strategy: wait until November 9 to discover this, then blame it on Nancy Pelosi.
Most liberals are not socialists or hedonist radicals, unless socialist is your definition of liberal.
Democrats want to talk about substance too: bungling of Iraq, Katrina, the budget, earmarks, abandoning of habeas corpus, and a long list of other issues we disagree on.
You might be frustrated by people you disagree with, but demonizing them will not make them agree with you more. And you care how they think because they vote too.

Finding your opponents to be light in the loafers when it comes to intelligence, reason, and morality is not the same as demonizing. Like our views of Iraq, Afghanistan, the budget, Katrina, war and the courts, etc., we simply come to different conclusions about these things.
Eventually a Democrat will be able to better fight the war on Islamic expansionism because they will have the media largely on their side. Democrats or "Progressives" have led us into all of America's wars (for good or for ill)--this is a telling historical detail.
No one in the current Democrat leadership has any of the qualities to be a war time leader. Shudder, shudder: Napollary comes closest to fitting the bill.
Katrina is proof of the disaster called LA and NO corrupt politics, and of welfarism in general. The federal response was the largest and most sucessful in history. Was it perfect? Duh. No.
Only a person desirous of America's failure in the war on terrorism could want to extend the rights of our constitution, that the terrorists would burn in a minute, to those self-same terrorists. This desire alone, to me, indicates severe numbness in the skull area.
And lastly, the sexual relativism and abortion-o-philia that have become the cornerstones of liberalism (what else they got?) can only rest on philosophical hedonism... you can look it up.

They said I was over-reacting with the "demonization" line, and maybe so. I interpret D Ox' original: "Liberals (socialists and hedonist radicals). . . ." as saying that liberals are bad people. Even if it doesn't, it's not a promising way to make friends with liberals. ("who would want to do that??" comes the instant response)
Michael's second paragraph calls me "bereft of any values or logic", not the way to "make friends and influence people".

Liberals hear this kind of thing a lot. This frustrates me because I never suggested extending rights to terrorists. I want to respect the rights of people who have not been shown to be terrorists. If you have someone in captivity, you figure out whether he is a terrorist by having a trial. If the trial results in conviction, the person's rights evaporate. It's true that not all bad guys are convicted. The son of mafia boss John Gotti was not convicted three times for murder.
And then there's the whole "war on terror" thing. There is no war on terror. The country is not mobilizing. Nobody is sacrificing (except reservists who don't have a choice). If you want to save American lives, try sending drunk drivers to jail. They kill more Americans in a month than Bin Laden has done in his lifetime.

I don't know if it helps your frustration with the serious argument against opening up our courts to people caught on the "battlefield" (around the world) and in the act, but the folks held at the CIA prisons and Guantanamo are there only after a military due process hearing that is unprecedented in world military history.
The new trials authorized by Congress will give those folks more process than any court in the world gives to foreign combattants. Period.
When is a war a war, you ask? So long as the enemy is determined and has the means to wage it against you is the simple answer. Public sacrifice is no indicator of the justice of anything, except to utopian socialists who live off of such excuses for making their own people suffer.
Do you know what habeas corpus is? It is the right to ask for a summary trial before your full trial to see if you are being fairly held for any trial. That is a right that Englishmen and Americans sweated blood and died for. It is not a goody to be doled out to thugs who kill their sisters for dating the wrong man, who kill their brothers who dare to convert to another faith, who kill their own children in order to kill a few infidels along with them... Do you wonder why supporters of the war think you liberals are insane?
Hello? Liberals are imprisoned and executed in Moslem countries. So puh-lease don't get all Michael Moore, or Yugo Chavez, or Castro, on me! America, and the Europe that only stays out of the socialist toilet because of America, is the safest place on earth to have disagreements like we are having here. We may not like each other, but Conservatives would NEVER use the power of government to kill y'all. Conservatives, family men, people of humble and rational faith are the ones who have always fought and died for liberty! Including even the freedom to dream socialist, hedonist, utopian dreams, and to run for elections...
Those Islamists that y'all think we are treating so unfairly have been at war with all non-Muslims for over one thousand years. Their conquests have only been stopped in the past by force, and they will only be stopped today by force--if God willing we can maintain our determination.

Dumb Ox, a humble man would have some self doubt. Most of the "detainees" at Gitmo were not captured "on the battlefield", or they would be POWs. Do you think it's wrong for an improvised army without uniforms to shoot at professional well uniformed soldiers? Maybe you should give George Washington a piece of your mind, perhaps with a 2 X 4.

The SUPREME COURT decided they were NOT POW's in Hamdan (read the decision), they are are combattants under Article 3 of the Geneva Convention.

So when you hear these people are being denied their basic right to habeas corpus, no individual in any military conflict in American history has ever had the right to habeas corpus before. So these individuals will have the right to go into federal court at two times. One, after they have had their combatant status review tribunal inside the military system. If they are still determined to be a combatant, then that can be appealed into our federal courts. So there will then be independent court review of whether they are being properly held.
In addition, if they are not -- if, in addition, they are prosecuted in a military commission at the end of their military commission trial, then that conviction can be appealed into our federal courts. But for the specific cases that have been filed right now, they will have to be re-filed in our federal courts."

Democrats simply have NO ONE who can responsibly lead our nation at this crucial time in history. While Democrats, or "Progressives" of some stripe, have had to be the ones to launch America's wars when they were necessary simply because only in that way can the populist muckrakers and socialists be SILENCED and held accountable for sedition. It's the Nixon opening to China thing, i.e. the more extreme opponents to a policy can only be silenced when it is carried out by one of their own.God forbid that Napollary is the one, but she may well be, or perhaps Osama/Obama (the perfect combo: socialist, metro-sexual of color), to carry the Global War on Terror to the ruthless dimensions that it probably needs to be carried, at least for awhile. It will take Conservatives to keep the country from heading towards a Democrat-controlled dictatorship in the country, but Conservatives cannot fight this war in the short-term. There are perilous times ahead, thin lines to walk. No guarantees of success, incredible risks.
In the IMMEDIATE TERM however, Democrats MUST NOT BE ABLE TO WIN these mid-term elections. The anti-American, anti-capitalist, anti-Western DNC as it stands today will freeze our government, tie its hands, and surrender to the enemy.
Worse for the survival of our culture and civilization: they will entrench anti-religion, anti-rational and anti-traditional family forces in the judiciary, the academy, and in your children's schools and pre-schools. More on that in Part III.
Let's review "why this election matters" so far:

And concluding Point #2: A "win" for the DNC now would freeze this country's and its allies' efforts in the GWOT and would result in the virtual surrendor to the forces of evil around the globe, resulting in a strengthening and growth in their power that might well be decisive for the defeat of Western Civilization.
That's why this election matters...
And here's a hint from Part III: Not only do you need to get out and vote, drive a van load of people to go vote, work on a campaign (NOW!), you also need to STOP buying Hollywood and media crap, and stop letting your kids buy that crap, and start voting for your children's future also with your pocketbook! Don't pay thousands of dollars to send your kid to a schmancy school where they will be brain-washed into relativist atheist hedonists!!! Enough Already!
