Misunderestimating Bush... Foiled Again!
Final Update: Just watch the Democracts (Harman's take was the clue) scurry to become HAWKS as the war goes on...
Sunday Evening Update: G8 goes along with Bush and places blame squarely with Hezbollah. Told you so...
Early Sunday Update: For Reuters coverage of intensifying bombing in Lebanon, new missiles and deaths in Haifa, 9 Dead in Haifa, see also see additional Headlines in our sidebar...
News you might not see, confirming our analysis, Tony Blair reiterates the Bush Doctrine: Syria and Iran are the problem, the "arc of extremism" stands in the way of democratization (Le Monde).
NEWS FLASH: Talking-head Dem, Jane Harman, pitching to enhance her national profile on "Face the Nation" just now ENDORSED an eventual attack on IRAN! Yes she attacked Bush's "failures" but, WOW. The Republican (idiot? stooge?) talking-head was actually more conciliatory, calling for talks with Iran! Quote unquote from Harman: "Israel is draining the swamp. Other countries in the region support what Israel is doing."
FLASH 2: Condi on "This Week" reiterates the "new" talk ("extremists" the problem) and the long term strategy that we discuss here, and which we have always tried to explain to our muddle-headed dopey Dem friends: changing the post-WWII status quo in the Middle East was the ONLY ALTERNATIVE post 9/11... Duh!? Then... Madeleine Albright shows what a pompous and ignorant ass she is ("Everything was wonderful when I was Secretary of State, and the world loved me! If only I and my fellow elites were running things again!"). Even George Stephanopolis treats her like the whining, irrational, out-of-touch, utopa-dope that she is. Amazing! Last note on "This Week": only Cokie Roberts (and Stephanopolis?) has a clue, George Will has become a reidiculous and annoying disgrace as a thinker, Sam, well he's Sam, and Fareed Zakaria?--duh.
Note, Russia will go along, if kicking and screaming...

Armchair Analysis
The coziness between Liberal Democrats and our radical Islamic enemies is something we now take for granted. E.g. Democrats taking pages and talking-points from al-Qaida's play book, and vice-versa, and specifically we can point to the all out effort of Liberals and their stooges in the mainstream media to do all they can to undermine the war effort at home, destroy troop morale in the field, give aid and comfort to the enemy, and negate effective intelligence programs that might help prevent another terrorist attack. Just the facts, ma'am.
I have suggested elsewhere why this odd alliance is more than a matter of political convenience (although it surely is that), but that it is born of deep ideological similarities in the way these two superficially disparate groups view the world, how they conceive human nature, and what they long for in the depths of their hearts.
Apart from all of this shared political and philosophical stuff, Liberals (i.e. budding Commies) and Moslem lunatics share yet another characteristic.
They are both pathologically and invincibly stupid.
Part 2

As events in the Middle East move forward, with Israel issuing a 72-hour ultimatum to Syria, and Iran clearly implicated in supplying long-range missiles and technicians to Hezbollah, not to mention their clear intervention in Iraq, we begin to have a glimmer of what has been going on--for those of us with eyes to see. We put forward the following as an hypothesis...
In a nutshell (an apt metaphor here), Iran, Syria, the Palestinian dupes and al-Qaida have all been imagining that they have been free agents here, working their fear and terror in the hearts of the West with their mass murder and mayhem. Well, gee, looking at European and American liberals/leftists, we can see how their ratiocinations seemed well-founded.
All of them have been playing a mug's game however. We can discuss this as a hypothesis, at the very least, now that, as they say, "the game is afoot"!
Al-Qaida and Iranian Shiite radicals have both been duped into concentrating on Iraq. Can you say "roach motel"?
Syria was thinking it could use Saddam's WMD's and the alliance with Iran as trump cards. Can you say "solly cholly"?
Hamas and Hezbollah were thinking that the West would not allow Israel to destroy them, with all of the inevitable innocent casualties, for fear of mass media harranguing and of risking a wider regional war. Those saps have been doubly played for suckers.
Wider regional war? Duh? Hello? That is what has been planned and prepared since 9/11. No doubt this was what the Chiefs of Staff have had in mind since the beginning.
The timing will have had more to do with getting Russia and China, and at least most of Europe, to allow the Anglo-Saxon alliance to do what needs to be done to end the stalemate, the putrid stagnation of social, political and cultural life, in the Middle East. It has been clear since 9/11 to right-thinking people, even if it wasn't to political science, sociology, and culture studies dopes, that there is no alternative to radical intervention. Actually, since the end of the Cold War it has been clear to most of the world that the Middle East was not only no longer useful as a festering zone of super-power competition, but was positively dangerous as a breeding ground of insane Muslim fanatics. (We have written elsewhere on this topic, the role of technology and of political repression, etc.)
Israel's withdrawls, that angered many pro-Israel types, their wall-building, that angered so many Israel-haters, and now their clearing defensive border zones in the Gaza Strip, in southern Lebanon and in front of the Golan Heights, has all been planned and in preparation for the inevitable conflict--in our humble opinion.
Western Libs and Mid-East Moslem dopes would have ruled out any action before the mid-term elections, and indeed, terrorists have no doubt been mobilizing for some sort of attack in the U.S. just before those elections to try to get their friends back in control of our Congress. Surprise!
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan were all on board to sit this one out, also probably from 9/11. Iranian military and nuclear experimentation capabilities will be the first to be totally smashed. Assad of Syria may quickly come around once the terms of the matter are obvious, and conduct his own purge of Hezbollah.
Legally, Israel's right to self-defense has been reiterated again and again by Bush and Blair. Hezbollah has had a safe have in Syria, and has been supplied with arms and money from both Syria and especially Iran. Israel will be justified in attacking Hezbollah targets in Syria. Iranian missiles and Iraqi WMD will perhaps then be used against Israel and justify direct attacks from those countries with defenseive treaties with Israel in Syria and especially in Iran.
Bush has had a firm grasp on what needed to be done because he and his closest advisors have a firm grasp on the truth about man. (That's another story.) He has listened to his Generals. Unlike the laughable, "I have a plan!" Democrats, the "Watch me pull a plan out of my hat!" (to be polite) Kerry and Co., Bush has done exactly what was possible, in adjusting to the changing circumstances, with the long term strategic objective clearly in sight. Regime change in Iran, Iraq and Syria was ALWAYS the planned Trifecta. Iraq was the lynch-pin.
Gosh--don't any Liberals or Moslem radicals play Risk?
Stay tuned...
